Choosing a Book to Read.

I am going to the Pakuranga Library to choose a book to read at my house.

Shapes.

I am learning about circles, squares, triangles and rectangles.  I cut some shapes out of paper.  I made my picture using my creative ideas.  Here is my house made with shapes.  

"I have circles and rectangles and squares and one triangle.  I made a butterfly by myself and it is blue.  It was tricky cutting around the outside."

I Can Recognise and Write - BIG and little.

I am learning to write the words BIG and little.

"My story - Dad is big.  Elsa is little.  I wrote the story in my book and then Mrs Kerr published it on the laptop and I could choose my tagul shape and my colours.  Writing is still a little bit tricky because I went away from Room 1 and I went to China.  Now I am getting better."

I Am Writing!

First I need to think about my story.  I can draw my picture.   I can copy the day like, Thursday.  I write a sentence to match my picture.  My teacher can help me. Sometimes my friend can help too.

"I can write about butterflies and me.  I can find some words myself on the yellow card."

I Can Read!

We are trying to read the hard words. We can look at the pictures to help us. We can look at the sound and try out the word. We like to read.

"I can point to the word.  I can read the word.  I read my stories to my mum and my baby."
